The SPIET800 chipset, as a transverse power transfer (LPD) solution, increases current capability beyond the LPD limit, and vertical power transfer (VPD) will soon achieve higher current density. The VPD system delivers current from power converters stacked vertically beneath the processor through a network of capacitors matched to a processor-specific pin map. If we deliver current directly under the processor and eliminate PDN losses, the GCMs(Gearbox current multiplier) will quickly bring the current density up to 2A/ mm 2.

The SPIET800 chipset can be powered from a 48V supply and is designed with a driver MCD4609 and a pair of MCM4609 current multiplier modules that can deliver 650A continuous current and 1200A peak current. The current multiplier’s small size and low profile (45.7×8.6×3.2mm) bring it closer to the processor to reduce distribution network (PDN) losses and improve power system efficiency
